21st Century Parent
These days, mobile technologies make it both easier and harder to be a parent. Cell phones, play stations, iPods, and iPads and other tablets are all small, portable, and able to connect to the web. Younger and younger children possess wired devices. Your children are rarely disconnected. Parents need to carefully monitor their children's uses of cell phones, computers, and connected video game systems.
At WES we want to work with you to create 21st century digital citizens.
Below are some links to resources and information to help you make informed decisions about how and when your children connect.
Digital Citizens - What it means and how to be one.
Wired Kids Information for both parents and students. Resources for
young children, tweens, teens, and parents.
Safe Kids A blog with links for online safety and civility. Playstation data theft
Fair Use and Copyright An interactive quiz with explanations
Did you know Facebook requires account holders to be at least 13 years old?
This is a sensible policy. Students younger than 13 (all WES students) are too young to understand the complex dynamics of an online social network.
Any outside of school cyber bullying situations which impact learning at school become school discipline issues.
